John Wyatt Danenberger is an attorney with State Farm, where he focuses on policy work,

 transportation network companies (TNCs), autonomous vehicle technology (AVT), and emergent technology. He helps analyze and review the company’s contract language and related documents to ensure coverage accurately reflects the State Farm position and follows statutory and regulatory guidance.

Prior to joining State Farm, John was a Judge Advocate General (JAG) Attorney with the

 United States Army. With the JAG Corp, John was detailed as Trial Attorney and Special Victims Prosecutor at Fort Hood, where he handled federal sexual assault cases and crimes involving child victims.

Danenberger deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 to establish the Army’s first Claims Office in Bagram and build the first three courtrooms in the Gamberi area. Upon returning home from downrange, Danenberger was set to U.S. Army European Headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany to serve as Chief of European Torts Claims overseeing offices in Brussels, Vicenza, and Nice. John transitioned from Active Duty service, a highly decorated officer, a graduate of Airborne School, and recipient of the NATO-ISAF medal, Afghanistan Campaign Star, three Army Commendation medals, and the Germany Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.

Danenberger currently serves as Chair of DRI’s SLC Liaison Committee and Vice Chair of DRI’s C3 Publication Committee. He is a member of the Illinois and Texas State Bar Associations, the McLean County Bar Association, and provides pro bono legal representation through Prairie State Legal Service.

Since 2020, Danenberger has served as Vice Chair on the Milestones Early Learning Center Board, which serves hundreds of families living under economic hardship. Additionally, Danenberger is a proud member of other Bloomington-Normal boards, including the Illinois Shakespeare Festival, PONY Baseball, and most recently, Habitat for Humanity – McLean County.

In 2019, former Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner appointed Danenberger to the Planning Commission, where he currently hears re-zoning, land use, and annexation issues for the city of Bloomington.

Danenberger is a graduate of Loyola University School of Law, where he was editor of the Children’s Legal Rights Law Review and graduated with honors. He also holds graduate degrees from University College London and the University of Chicago. He is joined in Bloomington by his wife, Yuki, their two children, Ana and Wyatt, and their two crime-fighting cats, Sherlock and Watson. In his free time, John enjoys playing piano, gardening, cycling, and traveling with his family.
