Ward 1

Jenna Kearns is a dedicated public servant and lifelong resident of Bloomington, Illinois, currently representing Ward 1 on the Bloomington City Council. She was sworn into office on May 1, 2023.

 

Jenna's roots in Bloomington run deep. She attended District 87 schools, including Irving Elementary, Bloomington Junior High School, and Bloomington High School. Growing up on the south and west sides of town, she spent her summers swimming at O’Neil Pool and enjoying treats from Carl’s Ice Cream.

 

She pursued higher education in History at Truman State University and later earned her law degree from St. Louis University School of Law. Her professional journey has been marked by a commitment to housing stability and social justice. Jenna worked with legal aid organizations to defend homeowners against foreclosure following the housing market crisis and contributed to financial stability initiatives at Mid Central Community Action. Currently, she manages a program for the Illinois Bar Foundation that enhances access to justice for unrepresented individuals in the civil court system.

On the City Council, Jenna focuses on housing and infrastructure issues. She is passionate about creating opportunities to address the affordable housing shortage and is committed to improving the city's infrastructure to better serve all residents.

 

Jenna's dedication to her community and her professional experience make her a valuable advocate for the residents of Ward 1 and the broader Bloomington area.
