Appliances

  • Collected curbside by an outside company (Call Norman Hicks at 309-846-8020), which charges a nominal fee for refrigerant removal for refrigerators and freezers for curbside collection
  • Can be dropped off at the Citizen Convenience Center at no additional charge
  • Includes stoves, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, microwaves, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, and water heaters
  • Refrigerators and/or freezers must have doors removed and cannot contain food or bulk

Concrete, Rock, Shingles, or Brick

  • Clean Aggregate CroppedConcrete, rock, shingles, or brick are no longer accepted at the Citizen Convenience Center
  • Solid Waste Program customers must call Public Works at 309-434-2220 for an estimate and to arrange for curbside collection
  • Materials must be cleaned so that they do not contain dirt
  • Fees:
    • $50 for 35 pounds or less
    • $100 per bucket (about 2.5 cubic yards) for more than 35 pounds

Electronics

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

  • Not accepted for curbside pickup or drop-off
  • HHW disposal events are typically coordinated by the Ecology Action Center
  • Visit www.hhwmclean.org for more information about HHW disposal in McLean County, including a list of materials
