The City of Bloomington’s Arts and Entertainment department announced Friday that concerts on the lawn of the BCPA would be returning this summer. These concerts will coincide with the First Friday series in Downtown Bloomington.
These events will help drive traffic to downtown Bloomington and bring local and regional talent as an additional entertainment option throughout the summer. The concerts will take place in accordance with the First Friday schedule of June 7th, July 5th, August 2nd, and September 6th.
“We wanted to try to find a way to add more energy to our already vibrant Downtown during the summer months,” said Assistant Arts & Entertainment Director Mike Wilcott. “We also wanted to provide some entertainment that would be budget friendly for everyone.”
Admission to the First Friday concert series will cost $5.00, but if an attendee shows a receipt from a downtown business equal to that amount or more, they will qualify for free admission. The City plans to offset the expense of these events in part by seeking partnerships with businesses.
Additional information, such as the acts that will be performing, will be announced at a later date via the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts social media channels and online at artsblooming.org
