Spotlight: 2026 Streets and Sidewalks Report

The 2026 Streets and Sidewalks Report is now available! The City of Bloomington prepared the report to provide detailed street and sidewalk data that includes a high-level view of the current state of streets and sidewalks in the City, information about the various treatment methods the City uses to build and maintain streets and sidewalks, historical costs and expenditures, and the planned street and sidewalk programs for Fiscal Year 2027. Click here to download a PDF of the report.

The City created the infrastructure projects dashboard as an additional resource to keep the public informed of infrastructure projects occurring in the City. The dashboard provides a graphical depiction of how much work is being done and how much money is being spent by the City to improve the community.

Please note that project details, including timelines, scope, and other relevant information are subject to modification as needed.

Roadwork Update: Traffic Delays Expected for Pavement Marking Operations

Post Date:04/27/2026 10:00 AM

BLOOMINGTON, IL – Pavement marking operations are scheduled to start as early as Monday, May 4, 2026, on Oakland Avenue, Prospect Road, and Washington Street. The operations will begin on Oakland Avenue from Eldorado Road to Hershey Road. They will then move to Prospect Road from Oakland Avenue to Empire Street before moving to Washington Street from Veterans Parkway to Hershey Road. Roadwork project schedules may change depending on weather and other factors.

The intersections along these routes will be closed periodically during these operations to allow for proper installation of pavement markings. Motorists traveling through these intersections will experience delays, be impacted by the periodic intersection closures, and should seek other routes.

While the streets will be open to traffic, motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes until the project is complete. The streets will be fully reopened as soon as the entire project is complete.
