Roadwork Update: Traffic delays expected on Oakland Avenue, Washington Street, and Prospect Road for separate asphalt surface operations scheduled to start Thursday, October 23, 2025

Post Date:10/22/2025 10:00 AM

BLOOMINGTON, IL – Due to recent construction-related delays, asphalt binder operations are now scheduled to start Thursday, October 23, 2025, on Oakland Avenue, Prospect Road, and Washington Street. The operations will begin on Oakland Avenue from Eldorado Road to Hershey Road. They will then move to Prospect Road from Oakland Avenue to Empire Street before moving to Washington Street from Krispy Kreme Drive to Hershey Road. Roadwork project schedules may change depending on weather and other factors.

The intersections along these routes will be temporarily closed periodically throughout operations to allow for proper installation of the asphalt. Motorists traveling through the intersections will experience delays, be impacted by the periodic intersection closures, and should seek other routes.

While the streets will be open to traffic, motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes until the project is complete.  The streets will be fully reopened as soon as the entire project is complete.
